Sports Massage vs Deep Tissue: We Do Both, at Your Place.

Perfect Touch 727 brings both sports massage and deep tissue massage to your home, condo or hotel in St. Petersburg, and blends them in one session when you need both. Training for something? Sports massage. One stubborn tight spot? Deep tissue. Not sure? Tell us what is going on and we set the session up for you.

Both, brought to you

You do not have to pick a lane. We offer sports massage and deep tissue massage, and because the two overlap, we often blend them. Either way we come to your place with the table and everything needed, start with a short conversation about what you want, and shape the hour around you.

Book sports massage if you train

Sports massage starts with your activity: what you train for, when your next event is, which muscles take the load. Before an event it is short and brisk so you feel ready. After a race or hard block it is slower and aimed at easing tightness. In between, maintenance sessions keep the usual trouble spots in check. Guided stretching is built in, so your hips, hamstrings and shoulders get worked through a fuller range in the same visit.

Book deep tissue if one area will not let go

Deep tissue starts with the problem area. Slow, sustained pressure reaches the deeper layers of muscle in the spots that feel stuck: upper back, neck, shoulders, glutes, low back. You do not need to be an athlete. Desk workers, parents, tradespeople and anyone carrying old tightness book it.

A quick way to choose

  • Sports massage: you train regularly, have an event coming up, or want to recover between hard weeks.
  • Deep tissue: one area bothers you, you carry tension in a particular spot, or you love firm, focused work.
  • A blend: both apply, which is common. Just tell us.

Examples

A half-marathon runner with tight calves two weeks before race day books sports massage. A cyclist with a knot between the shoulder blades books deep tissue. A golfer stiff through the hips and mid-back does well with a blend plus stretching. Someone with a desk job and constant shoulder tension leans toward deep tissue. The label matters less than the plan, and we build the plan with you.

Firm, never brutal

Both styles use firmer pressure than a light relaxation massage, and neither has to hurt. You should be able to breathe normally, and you can ask for more or less at any time. Want to know more about how we set pressure? Read how deep deep tissue goes and sports massage at your pressure.

Timing

Sports massage is often booked around training, such as after a hard block or a few days before an event. Deep tissue follows the problem area: book when the tightness comes back. Leave a day or two between firm sessions and skip a hard workout right after.

Before you book

If you have a recent injury, a possible tear, swelling, numbness or tingling, a history of blood clots or a pregnancy complication, check with your doctor or physical therapist first. Massage complements medical care and does not replace it.

Book either one

Pick a 60, 90 or 120 minute session on the booking page, or call or text (727) 318-0255 and describe what is going on. We will help you pick, or blend both.

More questions

Is sports massage the same as deep tissue?
No, though they overlap. Sports massage is organized around your training and events and includes guided stretching. Deep tissue is organized around reaching deeper layers of muscle in a problem area with slow pressure.
Which is better for a runner?
Sports massage is usually the best fit because it works around your training cycle and race dates. If one area is stubborn, we build deep tissue work into the same session.
Which is better for back pain from sitting?
Deep tissue massage is often a great match for desk-related tightness in the neck, shoulders and low back. If the pain is sharp, new or traveling into a limb, see your doctor first.
Does sports massage have to be deep?
No. It can be light and brisk before an event, or firm and thorough for recovery. You set the pressure either way.
Can I combine them in one session?
Yes. Tell us what you want and we spend time where it matters, using whichever approach suits each area.
